British Virgin Islands are a paradise waiting to be discovered. The BVIs have a small native population and, typically, small resorts, inns and villas. Getting away from it all is easy in the islands, given the variety of lodging, from the elegant luxury resort to the affordable kitchenette. And beautiful villas. Great for families too! This archipelago, a tropical Aegean Sea of many islands, is a Sailor's Paradise, the sailboat chartering capital of the Caribbean, and home of the world's most varied and luxurious crewed charters. The beaches in the BVI are not only very beautiful but also less developed than many beaches elsewhere. Often located on outlying islands, these beaches are only reached by boat whether charter, dive boat, daysail, launch or ferry. Even beaches on Tortola and Virgin Gorda may entail driving over some roads more fitting for four wheel drive vehicles. Dining in the islands is quite an event, partly for the fun of getting there and partly for the settings which favor seabreezes and verandas on seacoasts, in beach bars and even on mountaintops.

Total population in the British Virgin Islands is 16,000; 13,500 in Tortola, and 2,500 in Virgin Gorda. The primary language spoken is English, and they use the US Dollar as their currency. The British Virgin Islands is a Crown Colony of England, and enjoys its' political stability. Crime is virtually unknown in the British Virgin Islands. Scuba divers and snorkelers will enjoy the clear waters with abundant marine life. Other activities include sailing, windsurfing, shopping, and beach combing the long, sandy beaches. Tortola is reached by air service from San Juan or St. Thomas, and by ferry from St. Thomas or St. John, US Virgin Islands. Connections to Virgin Gorda are via flight from San Juan or St. Thomas, or ferry from Tortola or St. Thomas. Peter island has ferry services from Beef Island Airport and the ferry dock near Road Town.
