Seychelles Sailing Cup - 21-29 January 2006
Thanks to the support of the Seychelles Tourist Board, the very first Seychelles Sailing Cup will be taking place in the paradise islands of the Seychelles from 21 to 29 January 2006. The contest is open to amateurs and professionals on any type of boat - catamarans, monohulls, maxi yachts or traditional classics. The Seychelles Sailing Cup will be conducted under the authority of the Seychelles Yacht Club in accordance with the ISAF's International Racing Rules of Sailing. The Cup is handicapped, each yacht will be given a raiting, and there will be two classifications for each heat - elapsed time and compensated time - but only the compensated time will be used for the final classification. Heats of various types are planned: races between bouys, races between the islands, set courses and game fishing contests.

Races will start in front of the prestigious Lemuria resort of Prallin. The boats will then round a bouy towards Cousin Island and then head for Mah'e. The magnificent islands of Silhouette, Ile du Nord, Praslin, La Digue, Curieuse, Denis Isalnd, Bird Island will all feature in the race programme. The finish of the seven-day competition will be at Coco Island.

This exclusive contest is for all lovers of sail, racing, blue water and desert islands - and all those who love to combine adventure on the sea with luxury receptions in some of the world's finest hotels and idylic evenings on the beach. This first year some thirty European newspaper and television journalists will be invited to attend.
