Greek Islands

Paros
Paros has long been a well-known tourist attraction and one of the favourite islands for visitors - partly because all the ferries stop here. The beautiful capital of Parikia, the pretty village of Naoussa, and the superb beaches are amongst its most popular features.
Paros is the island for every taste. Rich and poor, from the most culturally aware to the hedonistic party animal, hippy to computer geek, foreigners and Greeks, they all come in the summertime.

Paros offers the best of the Cycladic Island experience. Whether you arrive at the beautiful port town of Paroikia by sea, or the tiny airport, you will be charmed from start to finish. You will lay on its golden beaches, stroll its cobblestone alleys, and pass through archways covered with brilliant bougainvilleas. Paroikia has a long boardwalk by the port that hosts dozens of great little restaurants and tavernas. Behind the port, you will find the historic old city with its winding alleys and small shops. The town is well protected from the meltemi wind.

Nauossa is a charming little port town just minutes from Paroikia. Many people believe it is the best place to stay on Paros, and it is worth spending the night in the harbour. Restaurants, cafes and shops line the port and its casual alleys. This is truly a wonderful place to wile away a few days or more. There are hotels of all categories in town and throughout the nearby countryside and beaches.

A church in Nauossa and a windmill in Paroikia stand as monuments to Cycladic architecture and tradition. This particular windmill no longer grinds wheat for daily bread, instead it has become a popular bar overlooking the colorful lights of the port and city by night. This church is typical of thousands of churches scattered about the Cycladic Islands.
