Stockholm Archipelago - RÅGSKÄR
Rågskär - a small private island in tranquil surroundings protected for the wild life in the Stockholm Archipelago. A secluded spot for your group only, accomodating 11 people sleeping to a maximum 50 people for meals.

Visiting Stockholm in the summer, without seeing some of the spectacular islands of the vast archipelago is almost unforgivable. Outside Stockholm there is an approximately 40 mile wide and 200 mile long area consisting of some 25 000 islands, islets and rocks scattered all over, giving shelter from the open sea with myriads of small bays and inlets for boats to anchor and home for the local population. SKÄRGÅRDEN (i.e. garden of the skerries) as the Swedes call the area, is partly inhabited by local fishing villages and farms. Nowadays, mostly by summer vacationers, and partly protected as a National Park. Many islands are also privately owned.

One of them is RÅGSKÄR (Rye–skerry) where it’s owner Björn Åkerlund has built up his island himself to accomodate mostly smaller groups of people for a few hours or days of relaxation in one of most beatiful parts of the outer area. RÅGSKÄR, situated only an hour or two from the city by boat or 20 minutes by helicopter, offers a spectacular view of the skerries and with the dedicated owners hospitality it will give you a “pittoresque” and unforgetable memory of your visit to the Stockholm’s Skärgård.

Björn Åkerlund welcoming all guests personally and will proudly cook a typical meal of newly caught fish with all the local flavours and trimmings together with some exellent wine. He also offers various activities including fishing, sauna, boule etc There are also some conference facilities.

For further information and reservations you can mail us at ba@ragskar.se. You can also contact your Tour Operator or check the home page on the web; www.ragskar.com

Having known Björn since his youth I can warmly recommend a visit to his beloved island trusting you will be well taken care of.
