The
hull design is developed from the designs of the dolce vita, which the
Comitti family has been making since the 1950's. The yard uses
carefully selected trunks of mahogany which are cut and seasoned to
order. The deck and hull fittings have been specially designed in a
classic style in harmony with the hull. The frames are of solid redwood
cut with the precision of a laser using high-pressure water jet. The
hull topsides are of triple diagonal, laid up mahogany, bonded with
epoxy resins to ensure low maintenance. It is then finished with
polyurethane paints to give lustre to the wood. In all there are over twenty layers of hand finished varnish which give its spectacular warmth and brightness.
The Portofino is provided with a generous sun deck and fitted sun beds, deep comfortable seats and a sofa.
